Albemarle 1 Louisa 1The Albemarle Patriots Girls JV soccer team opened the Jefferson District season with a 1-1 draw against the Louisa Lions. On a drizzly evening in Mineral Virginia, under the lights of Mark Fischer field, the Patriots dominated possession and created numerous offensive chances. Albemarle opened the scoring with 5 minutes left in the first half, when Halle Barredo converted a PK after Madeline Kronebusch was taken down inside the box. The score remained 1-0 until Louisa tied the game with 10 minutes left in the 2nd half. After blocking a shot on goal, Zoe Gardner gathered and secured the deflection. The lineswoman ruled that the ball had crossed the goal line awarding Louisa the game tying goal. The Patriots responded with wave after wave of goal scoring chances but were unable to break the tie. The Patriots are now 1-0-1 on the season and will look to get back on the winning track when they host the Monticello Mustangs this upcoming Thursday at 5pm. Go Patriots!!
(Time & Location Changed) Amy,The Patriots girls JV soccer team played cross town rival CHS to a 0-0 draw. AHS controlled possession for the majority of play but where unable to find the back of the net, though not for lack of shots, hitting several cross bars in the process. As has been the theme early in the season the Patriots played lock down defense limiting the Black Knights to very few offensive possessions, and have now only allowed one goal in five games this year. AHS is now 3-0-2 on the season and return to play traveling to Fluvanna this upcoming Monday.
AHS 4 FHS 0Goals: Kidd, Jones, Kronebusch, OttAssist: Quillian Under a blustery and constant cross wind, the Albemarle girls JV soccer team recorded their 5th shutout of the season with a 4-0 victory over Fluvanna. Ruby Kidd started the scoring with 7:10 left in the first half off of a precision cross from Lane Quillian. The score remained 1-0 into halftime. With just under 18 minutes left in the second half Caroline Jones curled a powerful strike from a corner kick directly into goal to make it 2-0. A little over 10 minutes later Madeline Kronebusch weaved through the middle of the defense and punched it into the back netting. Maddie Ott completed the scoring just before the final horn, powering her kick through the keepers arms. The Patriots are now 4-0-2 on the season and will finish their current four game road trip this Thursday when they travel to Powhatan. Go Patriots!
